Double-side typed copy of transcribed interview with Gordon Stewart entitled "Yukon Airways and Exploration Co. Ltd. The Yukon's First Airline". Original interview with Gordon Stewart taped November, 1977. Transcription completed by Jerry Stewart (Gordon Stewart's son) in June, 2004.
Provides recollection and details of the history of Yukon Airways and Exploration Co. Ltd. and of Gordon Stewart's tenure with the company. Gives first hand account of Stewart's barnstorming trip from Seattle to Yukon with pilot John Patterson. Includes reference to Clyde Wann,flying conditions, and flights given to women from "houses of ill repute".
Also included: a typed transcription of YOOP eulogy to John Patterson; and typed addendum by Jerry Stewart regarding timeline of Yukon Airways and Gordon Stewart's tenure there.
Gordon Stewart joined Yukon Airways & Exploration Company Ltd. in the summer of 1929 when the company purchased a new Ryan B5, to be the Queen of the Yukon II. The plane was picked up in St. Louis, Missouri by pilot John Patterson and flown to Seattle, Washington. It was in Seattle that Gordon Stewart began his tenure with Yukon Airways.
