;The Yukon Quest, formally the Yukon Quest 1,000-mile International Sled Dog Race, is a sled dog race that began in 1984, between Fairbanks, Alaska, and Whitehorse, Yukon, switching directions each year. The Quest had operated with both a Canadian board and an Alaska board. But in 2022, the race split over proposed rule changes to the 2023 race.Since then, there have been Yukon Quest races in both Yukon and Alaska, operating independently of each other with shorter course distances.
