Great Northern Airways advertising sign.
Red, white and blue plastic sign, basically a circle, 20 inches in diameter, with Great Northern Airways logo, which consisted of the raised letters “gna” and a flying mountain sheep.
Was hung at the Passenger Service Counter at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (formerly Whitehorse International Airport).
Great Northern Airways was previously known as Connolly – Dawson Airways (formed in 1957). There was consolidation of Connelly-Dawson Airways, Whitehorse Flying Services and Range Airways of Calgary into a new company Great Northern Airways in 1965. It operated scheduled passenger services linking Whitehorse, Mayo and Dawson City (for CP Air), Old Crow, Inuvik, Sachs Harbour, Ross River, Atlin and Telegraph Creek. It was acquired by TRANS NORTH AIR in 1972.;Great Northern Airways was a short-lived Canadian airline, 1965-1972. It was the result of a consolidation of Connelly-Dawson Airways, Whitehorse Flying Services and Range Airways of Calgary. The airline was acquired by Trans North Air.
