These images were taken by the donor.
Yukon sternwheelers were predominately fueled by wood. Wood camps were situated approximately every 50 miles along the Yukon River between Whitehorse and Dawson City. Depending on the size of the ship, some sternwheelers would go through 4-5 cords of wood per hour.
