There are inscriptions on the bottom left and right of the image. The photo shows 5-6 people in a constructed scow along the Yukon River going through Miles Canyon also known as Kwanlin, in the Whitehorse, YT region. The people in the scow are in the middle of the river navigating though this canyon as to not hit the basalt columns of this canyon. The scow is hand built from most likely trees in the area. In this photo you can see tall spruce trees lining the upper part of the canyon, and in the distance a hill that is now a popular lookout over the area. The backside of this frame is wooden with ripped brown paper lining the edges, with a twisted wire going lengthwise for hanging the frame on a wall.

Note how much lower the river is compared to modern times where a hydro dam was built up river, raising water levels.
