Carcross fur rancher George Simmons started Northern Airways in 1934 with the purchase of a second-hand Fokker Super Universal, CF-AAM. A Carcross-based company, Northern Airways had the mail contract between Carcross, Atlin and Telegraph Creek, B.C.
