Painted metal sign for Northern Airways Service has wooden frame and backing.
Carcross fur rancher George Simmons started Northern Airways in 1934 with the purchase of a second-hand Fokker Super Universal, CF-AAM. A Carcross-based company, Northern Airways had the mail contract between Carcross, Atlin and Telegraph Creek, B.C. In addition to routine charters, the war brought much survey work to the company and for the next five years, BXF and three sisterships (BXD,
BXH and BXI) fl ew thousands of hours on the Alaska Highway and Canol Pipeline projects.
