Prototype racing sled crafted especially for the Yukon Quest by Ray Mackler of Fairbanks, fabricated from white ash with fibreglass lamination, aluminum for lightness and UHMW plastic. It features an independent suspension system, allowing it bend and flex with the trail.
Frank Turner's Yukon Quest sled. Turner won the race with this sled in 1995 in a then-record time of 10 days, 22 hours and 16 minutes. The Yukon Quest is the most grueling sled dog race in the mushing world, held annually. It starts in alternate years at Whitehorse and Fairbanks and follows the course of the Yukon River for most of its length. There is a mandatory 36 hour layover in Dawson City. (2024 note: as of 2022, the U.S. and Canadian sides of the race have separated and are producing their own shorter races.)
