Snowshoe Binding
Leather and canvas binding for use with snowshoes. The body of the binding is comprised of leather with a piece of heavy-duty canvas affixed to the interior with metal grommets. The top of the binding has four holes on either side through which a lace has been looped through. Two straps have been affixed to the outside of the binding with grommets. One has a metal buckle through which the other can be secured. Each binding has a different style of buckle.
Traditional snowshoes have awood frame and are laced with babiche or gut.The binding is secured to the snowshoe, the foot is placed in the binding and the laces tightened over the boots. The buckled straps then are fastened around the heel of the foot.
